Grant rolls out of the car before it rolls off the road and explodes.
Another member of the expedition, Hillman (John Hamilton), has discovered half of a map leading to Mayan treasure. Maldor has the other half. Grant puts Hillman in a safe hotel and calls Maldor to warn him that The Scarab might come looking for his half of the map.
Actor Highlights
John Hamilton (1887-1958)
Other comic book media credits: Perry White in Adventures of Superman (1952)
Maldor finds his half of the map, but tells Grant that someone stole it. While Grant takes away the display box to get it fingerprinted, Maldor hides a recording device in Grant’s office to find the location of Hillman.
A henchman breaks in later that night and listens to what’s on the tape. He then calls and relays the info to The Scarab. The henchman hears Grant coming, so he throws the recording device out of the window. Grant enters and shoots the henchman, who almost, but doesn’t quite, fall out of the window. That was so close to utilizing both of Cap’s techniques!

Grant calls the hotel he’s stashed Hillman at and tells a policeman there to keep an eye out. The policeman is incredibly bad at his job and immediately lets in a suspicious waiter. The waiter opens a tray on his cart to reveal that he’s brought a gun for dinner. He lets Matson in and they find the other half of the map.
Grant arrives and sees the real waiter knocked out in a closet, so he changes into Captain America and charges in. A big fight happens and Matson punches Cap out of the window.

Oh, how the tables have turned.
Should you watch it, though? This chapter mostly felt like it was setting up things for the final couple of chapters. I was certain this whole map business was going to lead to an epic treasure hunt.
Yeah, I was completely wrong about that.
Tune in next time for Captain America: "Chapter Fourteen: The Scarab Strikes" (Available on Archive.)
