Joe Heath is a big fan of comic books and watching things in order. So they made this spreadsheet containing every serial, short, film, television episode, commercial, motion comic, and web series based on a comic book. Now they're watching them all. Previously, Joe watched the eighth chapter of Captain America. This time, they continue with the ninth.
Captain America: “Chapter Nine: Triple Tragedy” - 15:35 (Available on Archive)

Cap rescues the mechanic who tells him about the bomb on the plane. He radios Gail and she dives out before the plane explodes. However, the plane does explode with the blow dart gun inside. Oh no!
So Grant concocts a plan to get word out that they have made a copy of the gun and that the expedition guy’s son is coming to look at it. Usually we see in detail how they would have gone about spreading this news to the criminal underground, but this chapter cuts to the chase and immediately has someone tell the Scarab about it through his shoeshine boy.
The Scarab finds out which hotel the son is going to be staying at, so he has his men rig up a doorbell booby trap. Grant shows up with a fake blow dart gun. Matson rings the doorbell and the room fills up with gas. Grant pretends to pass out as Matson comes in and gets the blow dart gun. Matson could shoot Grant right then and there. You know… just to make sure he’s truly dead. But for some reason, he doesn’t. Instead, he leaves and Gail sneakily follows him.
Meanwhile, another henchmen realizes they should probably make sure Grant is dead and goes to kill him. But Grant punches him out of the window.

I have never seen so many unconvincing dummies.
Grant gets a car and finds out where Gail is and joins the chase. He also changes into his Captain America costume while driving. That doesn’t seem very safe. Maybe stop changing into your costume all the time? It slows you down and it makes you drive recklessly.
Matson stops at a barn where he calls The Scarab. The Scarab is concerned because the other henchman at the hotel didn’t call in. (Because he is too busy being dead.) Matson says he’ll go back and see what’s going on.
To keep him from leaving, Gail goes in and holds Matson and a random henchman at gunpoint. But then she gets dropped through a convenient trapdoor.

Worried that Cap’s gonna show up, Matson decides to burn down the barn, effectively destroying any evidence inside as well as disposing of Gail. Cap shows up and fights them as a powder keg trail slowly burns towards some explosives. Matson manages to escape.
Then the barn explodes.

Should you watch it, though? Not sure what the triple tragedy is, but this is a pretty fun chapter. I’m enjoying how much Gail gets to do. However, this would be more of a barn burner if I hadn’t already seen this cliffhanger in Spy Smasher.
Tune in next time for Captain America: "Chapter Ten: The Avenging Corpse" (Available on Archive.)
