Joe Heath is a big fan of comic books and watching things in order. So they made this spreadsheet containing every serial, short, film, television episode, commercial, motion comic, and web series based on a comic book. Now they're watching them all. Previously, Joe watched the fifth chapter of Batman. This time, they continue with the sixth.
Batman: “Chapter Six: Poison Peril” - 16:44 (Available on Archive)

Release date: August 20th, 1943
Somehow Batman gets out of the plane wreckage unharmed and pulls the men inside out to safety.
Daka decides to bug Linda’s place to find out the identity of Batman. One of the henchmen wonders if Bruce and Batman are the same guy, but Daka says “No, that’s stupid. You’re stupid. Shut up.”
They listen in on their bug as Linda introduces Bruce and Dick to Ken Colton (Charles Middleton). Colton’s just discovered a radium mine. Of course.

Actor Highlights
Charles Middleton (1874-1949)
Other memorable roles: Middleton has played many villains, but is most well-known for his role as Ming the Merciless in multiple Flash Gordon serials.
Colton’s a fun addition to the serial with his somewhat over-the-top gun-toting tough-talking manly man manner.
Dick accidentally discovers Daka’s bug and disables it before Colton can reveal the location of the mine.
Daka sends men to attack Colton at his apartment. But Batman and Robin are there to save the day. So Daka tries something a little more sneaky and has Uncle Warren set up a meeting with Colton. But Bruce thinks this is suspicious and tells Colton he’s going to check it out.
Then Bruce basically forces Alfred into going undercover as Colton.

At the meeting, the henchmen threaten Alfred with a chemical dip, but Batman and Robin are there to save the day. A fire breaks out and the ceiling collapses on top of Batman.
Should you watch it, though? Colton is fun and Alfred is hilariously ridiculous with his fake beard. A definite improvement over the last chapter. Though I’m not sure why this chapter is called “Poison Peril.” I assume it has to do with the chemicals, but no one is ever in danger of being poisoned by them. Prove me wrong, scientists.
Tune in next time for Batman: "Chapter Seven: The Phoney Doctor" (Available on Archive.)
