Consume All Media! Superman: "Chapter Five: A Job for Superman!"

Joe Heath is a big fan of comic books and watching things in order. So they made this spreadsheet containing every serial, short, film, television episode, commercial, motion comic, and web series based on a comic book. Now they're watching them all. Previously, Joe watched the fourth chapter of Superman. This time, they continue with the fifth.

Superman: “Chapter Five: A Job for Superman!” - 14:44 (Available on Amazon)

Clark turns in an article that he had been assigned by Perry. Perry gushes about how much he likes it and let me tell you, that’s a really good feeling.

Afterwards, Clark meets up with Jimmy who fills him in on how he was attacked and Lois was kidnapped. He is also a terrible driver.

The Spider Lady’s henchmen are taking Lois to a warehouse and drive past Clark and Jimmy. Clark sees her using his real good eyesight and they follow the car.

Clark tells Jimmy to let him out so he can “call the police.” Which means change into Superman. He does that, then briefly changes into his animated form, so he can jump on top of the henchmen’s car and stop it.

The henchmen shoot some more animated bullets at him and he knocks them out. He tears off their fender and ties them up with it.

Lois tells Superman about Morgan, the Kryptonite, and that the Spider-Lady is in a cave somewhere.

Later, Lois fills in Perry about everything, but also adds that Clark is a coward for ditching Jimmy.

The Spider Lady calls in and says something will be stolen from the Metropolis Museum and Superman won’t be able to stop it. Lois goes to the museum to cover the story.

A car crashes and catches fire outside of the museum. The museum guards rush over to help out. The Spider Lady’s henchmen enter and break into Leed’s safe using a weird electrical device.

Outside, Superman uses his super breath to blow out the car fire.

But there’s no one in the car, just a record player playing the sound of someone screaming.

Back inside the museum, Lois finds and fights the thieves, but is knocked out. The henchmen get away with the Kryptonite. Superman spots them leaving and follows them.

Having been turned on by the henchmen before they left, the weird electrical device wildly flails around the unconscious Lois.

Should you watch it, though? We’re beginning to slip into more familiar territory with the “stopping the henchmen” format, but there’s still plenty to enjoy here. The humor is solid, the cast is great, and the villain’s plot actually works!

Tune in next time for Superman: "Chapter Six: Superman in Danger!" (Available on Amazon)
