Consume All Media! Hop Harrigan: "Chapter Four: Plunging Peril"

Joe Heath is a big fan of comic books and watching things in order. So they made this spreadsheet containing every serial, short, film, television episode, commercial, motion comic, and web series based on a comic book. Now they're watching them all. Previously, Joe watched the third chapter of Hop Harrigan. This time, they continue with the fourth.

Hop explains what’s going on to the cops and where they can find the men who stole the gold. Hunter overhears this and sends some of his men to free his other men before the cops get there.

Later, Jackie spots Tobor sneaking into the hangar. Tobor takes his model plane back and Jackie locks him in the store room. Jackie tells Hop and they all go to talk to Tobor. Hop tells Tobor that his explosion didn’t work and he wants to take him to Arnold. But Tobor refuses. They decide to eat some dinner and talk it over in the morning.

Jackie gives Tobor some tips on how to improve his plane. Seriously, these two are the best part of this whole thing.

Hop calls Arnold to catch him up and his secretary listens in… Is she in league with the Chief Pilot??

Nope! I can’t even find this actress’s name, she’s so unimportant to the plot.

After dinner, Tobor crashes at Hop’s place. He sneakily hides something in his pillowcase before going to sleep. Hop and Tank also go to sleep in their beds that are side-by-side. I didn’t know they lived together. Or slept so close to each other... Oh no, am I shipping?

Jackie feels left out of this sleepover, so he sneaks out to go stay with Hop. But on his way out he sees Hunter and his men sneaking around. Hunter’s men bang on some stuff to wake up Hop and Tank, while Tobor fakes being asleep.

As Hop and Tank get into a gunfight, Tobor sneaks away and immediately gets caught by Hunter’s men. Jackie watches them all leave and runs in front of their car to try and stop them.

In a truly terrifying stunt, Jackie ducks into a hole as the car drives over him.

Should you watch it, though? This chapter is largely boring, but that last stunt is incredible! Or stupidly dangerous! Both! It’s the best stunt I’ve seen in all of the serials I’ve seen so far. If you watch anything from this serial, watch this cliffhanger. In fact, that’s the only thing you should watch. (It’s also repeated at the top of the next chapter, so you can watch it there too.)
