Consume All Media! Atom Man vs. Superman: "Chapter Three: Ablaze in the Sky!"

Joe Heath is a big fan of comic books and watching things in order. So they made this spreadsheet containing every serial, short, film, television episode, commercial, motion comic, and web series based on a comic book. Now they're watching them all. Previously, Joe watched the second chapter of Atom Man vs. Superman. This time, they continue with the third chapter.

Atom Man vs. Superman: “Chapter Three: Ablaze in the Sky!” - 15:59 (Available on Amazon)

Superman grabs Lois before she hits the ground and they fly away.

Later, Lois and Clark interview a recently paroled Luthor. He claims to know nothing about magically disappearing people or the Atom Man. He's too busy investing in a television studio.

Someone comes up and asks to take Luthor's picture. But when Clark uses his X-ray vision, he sees the camera has a gun inside.

I've heard of a photoshoot, but this is ridiculous.
I've heard of a photoshoot, but this is ridiculous.

Clark knocks the camera out of the way and saves Luthor's life. He says it was suspicious that the photographer was using a flash bulb in the middle of a sunny day. Nice save.

In a confusing scene, Perry White says he's going to have the coin analyzed, even though Superman said he was going to do that in the last chapter. I guess he's too busy with saving the day or whatever.

Speaking of, Superman puts out a fire in yet another scene unrelated to the plot.

Back at the Planet, Perry tells his team that the coin has been analyzed by a recluse named Professor Stone who lives in the mountains. The henchmen watching in the TV truck outside relay this information to Luthor.

The following day Jimmy flies a plane to the mountains.

Quick question: Could everyone in the 40s and 50s just fly a plane? I feel like there's been at least one pilot per serial so far.

Anyway, Luthor's henchmen have sabotaged the plane and it catches on fire. Clark goes into the back to get parachutes, but really changes into Superman. Superman puts out the fire and flies off.

Clark returns with parachutes, confused. Jimmy and Lois make fun of him. When they're not looking, Clark looks super pleased with himself for successfully tricking his friends. It's honestly adorable.

Luthor's henchmen get to the mountains, grab Professor Stone (Edward Hearn), and lock him in his vault. Clark, Lois, and Jimmy arrive and meet a bandaged henchman pretending to be Stone.

Clark sees through the ruse and removes his bandages. More henchmen rush in and a fight breaks out. In the scuffle, Clark is shot but seems unfazed and finishes beating up the henchmen. When Lois questions Clark about how he survived being shot, he says the coin in his pocket stopped the bullet. He pulls the coin out and quickly dents it before anyone can see that it was perfectly fine.

A henchman grabs the coin from his hands and runs out. Clark chases him as Lois and Jimmy look around Professor Stone's office.

Meanwhile, Professor Stone has managed to get free of the ropes the henchmen tied him up with. Thinking the henchmen are still in his office, he presses some buttons that locks Lois and Jimmy in. Then he presses more buttons that set his office on fire.

I really have to install more booby traps in my home.

Should you watch it, though? This chapter is pretty good, though the unnecessarily added rescue scenes continue to be tedious.
