Consume All Media! Superman: "Chapter Eleven: Superman's Dilemma"

Joe Heath is a big fan of comic books and watching things in order. So they made this spreadsheet containing every serial, short, film, television episode, commercial, motion comic, and web series based on a comic book. Now they're watching them all. Previously, Joe watched the tenth chapter of Superman. This time, they continues with the eleventh.

Superman: “Chapter Eleven: Superman's Dilemma” - 17:36 (Available on Amazon)

Superman saves Lois from the fire.

Graham is taken to the Spider Lady who wants him to finish their replica of the reducer ray. After some brief torture, he agrees, but says he needs mono-chromite. So the Spider Lady’s henchmen go to a chemical engineer, Dr. Fredrick Larkin (Wheeler Oakman).

Actor Highlights

Wheeler Oakman (1890-1949)

Other comic book media: Alex Ballard in Hop Harrigan (1946)

Turns out asking for mono-chromite is actually a secret code to alert the authorities. Pretty slick.

Larkin tells the henchmen it will take two hours to gather the mono-chromite. Once they leave, Larkin calls Perry White and fills him in.

Perry sends Kent to cover the story. Lois asks Perry why she can’t go and he says she can go with him, if she wants. While Clark is on the phone, Lois tosses Clark’s hat. Before sneaking off with Jimmy, Lois tells the receptionist to report her car stolen.

Clark spends a comedic amount of time looking for his hat.

Clark finds his hat, then finds Lois leaving in the company car. He yells at her and she throws him the keys to her car and says to keep up. Clark follows behind in her car, but is soon pulled over by a motorcycle cop. He can’t talk his way out of it, so he is arrested and put in a cell.

Honestly, Lois is kind of a terrible human being, but it’s still pretty hilarious.

Lois and Jimmy talk to Franklin and come up with a plan. Lois hides in a nearby closet, while Jimmy hides in the mono-chromite crate. He’s going to let the henchmen take him so he can find the location of the Spider Lady’s hideout.

Franklin tries to get the henchmen to sign a receipt, but they don’t like that so they knock him out. Then they find Lois in the closet and knock her out too. They lock her in Larkin’s safe for some reason and leave with the crate full of Jimmy.

After stuffing some pillows under his blankets to fool any guards, Superman escapes his cell.

He flies to Larkin’s and finds Lois in the safe with his x-ray vision.

He tears off the door and pulls Lois out. She tells him about Jimmy.

Meanwhile in the back of a truck, Jimmy gets out of the crate to see where they’re going. The crate falls over and Jimmy rushes to set it back up and get inside. He’s a little late though, as one of the henchmen sees him closing the crate door.

The henchmen shoot the crate.

Goodbye, Jimmy.

Should you watch it, though? Yes. Lois is at her diabolical worst here and I love it.
