Joe Heath is a big fan of comic books and watching things in order. So they made this spreadsheet containing every serial, short, film, television episode, commercial, motion comic, and web series based on a comic book. Now they're watching them all. Previously, Joe watched the eleventh chapter of smashing spies. This time, they smash the final chapter.
Spy Smasher "Chapter Twelve: V..._" - 16:39 (Available on YouTube.)

“..._” is morse code for the letter “V.” And “V” presumably stands for “Victory.” (Spoilers!) This code is in the opening credits of every chapter, as well as appearing on Spy Smasher’s belt buckle. It is also weirdly projected on a wall later in this chapter, for no reason that I can figure out.
Back in Jack’s apartment, Alan wakes up after having been presumably knocked out by Jack. He calls Corby to tell him that Jack went to the hideout in his place.

Alan shows up at the hideout and immediately kills a whole bunch of dudes to establish that he’s the real smasher of spies.

Meanwhile, Eve picks Jack up off the pavement and asks why he never told her he was Spy Smasher. He says “I wasn’t Spy Smasher. That was my brother, Alan.” And those are his last words.

Goodbye, Jack. I think you were maybe created as a way to get out of a cliffhanger, but you seemed a decent fellow.
Drake is arrested.
Later, Drake’s lawyer shows up and breaks him out of jail. He’s working for The Mask! But on their way out, the fake lawyer gets shot by a policeman. Drake escapes in a getaway car.

Goodbye, Fake Lawyer. I think you were maybe created as a way to get Drake out of jail, but you seemed an indecent fellow.
But it was a ruse! He’s not a Fake Lawyer! He’s a FAKE Fake Lawyer! This is all part of a plan to find the Mask!

Spy Smasher follows Drake to a boat. Drake calls The Mask, who is very confused, because he didn’t help Drake out of jail. Then he sees Spy Smasher behind Drake on screen and freaks out. He immediately orders the U-boat to be moved.
Spy Smasher and Drake fight it out, winding up in a much smaller boat that’s heading to The Mask’s U-boat.
Meanwhile, The Mask blows up an oil refinery while avoiding mines. But the boat Spy Smasher and Drake are in wrecks on the U-boat periscope. The men inside the U-boat try to exit to the surface but it’s covered in fire from the oil refinery explosion. The Mask panics and orders them to submerge. The U-boat hits a mine and explodes.

Goodbye, The Mask. I think you only wore the mask because you wore one in the comics, but it truly made little sense.
Meanwhile, Spy Smasher knocks Drake unconscious and swims away.
Corby gives him a medal for being cool. Alan tells Eve that they both loved Jack very much.
The end.
Should you watch it, though? The twist with Jack being the one who fell and not Alan is actually really clever. The finale is definitely explosive, but instead of Spy Smasher’s big final fight being with Drake, I wish he had been a little more involved in defeating The Mask. Though I did enjoy The Mask dying by his own panic and stupidity.
All in all, the serial has some interesting twists and turns and the writing is frequently surprising. It starts to bog down and get repetitive in the middle, but picks up quite a bit for the last couple of chapters.
If you’re looking for more of the fantastical side of comic book films, this might not be for you. It’s more of a war film than it is about superheroes. But it’s a solid film in its own right and if you give it a chance, you just might like it!
