Joe Heath is a big fan of comic books and watching things in order. So they made this spreadsheet containing every serial, short, film, television episode, commercial, motion comic, and web series based on a comic book. Now they're watching them all. Previously, Joe watched the second chapter of Batman. This time, they continue with the third chapter.
Batman: “Chapter Two: The Mark of the Zombies” - 17:34 (Available on Archive)

Release date: July 30th, 1943
Batman grabs onto a rope and swings to safety, then takes the unconscious Linda to a hospital.
Meanwhile, Daka decides to turn Martin into a zombie which I thought he already had.

I could rewatch this to figure out what really happened, but I’m gonna be honest… it’s not worth it. I no longer have editors to make me, either. (We'll see what happens if this ever gets a book version.)
Anyway, Daka wants to blow up a train and has a bomb for it, but really wishes he had that Radium Gun.
Batman puts an anonymous ad in the paper saying he’s found the Radium Gun. One of Daka’s henchmen arranges a meetup to get the gun, worried that it might be a trap.
Because it is. Batman puts Alfred in a disguise and says he’s gonna go undercover as the guy who presumably found the gun. This can only go well.

The henchmen arrive and search for the weapon. Another henchman sees Batman watching through the window and aims to shoot him. Robin stops him and then punches him through a skylight into the room below.

Batman and Robin jump in after him and start fighting.
At some point, Alfred finds a gun and starts blindly shooting everywhere, clearing the room.

Batman finally manages to get the gun away from the crazed butler.
Alfred asks “How many did I kill?”
“Seven.”
“But there were only four of the ruffians!”
“You killed three of them twice.”
If Alfred got a kill count, it would be very confusing right now. (Also, he didn’t actually shoot anyone.)
Batman and Robin find a map to the bridge where they are planning to take out the train. They get there just in time to throw the bomb off the tracks, but a henchman knocks Batman over the head. He passes out on the tracks as the train comes barreling towards him.
Should you watch it, though? This one might be my favorite chapter. The action and pace are decent and Alfred is an absolute delight. Though it might lack in other respects, this serial is pretty great when it’s doing comedy.
Tune in next time for the final Superman cartoon: "Secret Agent" (Available on Dailymotion.)
